Lake Higgins is a 226-acre municipal reservoir. Fishing is allowed from a boat or from the pier. Kayaking, stand-up paddling boarding (SUP) and canoeing are allowed on Lake Higgins. A launch ramp is open for launching private boats. Rowboats, kayaks, and canoes are available for daily rentals.

Bald Eagle Trail (4.1 miles) skirts the shores of Lake Higgins, providing beautiful scenery for hiking and mountain biking. This moderate hike offers opportunities to view unique waterfowl and possibly a bald eagle, the trail’s namesake. It is considered a semi-technical mountain bike ride by the trail sponsor, Piedmont Fat Tire Society, with its rooty sections and hairpin turns. The 1.3-mile loop on the western side of Lewiston Road is an added bonus.

Shane’s is a family owned Sporting Clays range in Summerfield, North Carolina. Shane Naylor (owner/operator) has been shooting since he was 8 years old. He has loved the sport since 1987. Coming from Texas, Shane and his Dad (Tom) opened the range in 1987 in need of a place to shoot close to home. Our facility has since grown to a 14 station course with a wooble area and two sections dedicated to practice traps for beginners.
