Badkin Lake sits on the border of Montgomery and Stanly County and is adjacent to the Uwharrie National Forest. The reservoir covers an area of 5,350 acres with 115 miles of shoreline, and a maximum depth of 200 feet. Water fluctuations are minor. The Badin Lake Recreation Area offers swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, hiking trails, equestrian trails, four-wheel drive trails, mountain biking trails & camping opportunities. The Circle Drive boat ramp offers 40 boat trailer spaces,  5 single vehicle spaces, 3 universal access spaces with dock handrails, and a paved walkway and restrooms.

Badin Lake Recreation Area offers swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, hiking trails, equestrian trails, four-wheel drive trails, mountain biking trails & camping opportunities. There are 17 miles of Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) trails. Additionally, there are approximately 40 miles of non-motorized trails available for horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking. These trails range from easy to difficult as they traverse beautifully wooded areas, rocky outcrops, the Uwharrie River & many of its tributaries. There are several lake access and picnic spots, including the Cove Boat Launch (located on Cove Road near Arrowhead Campground), King’s Mountain Point, and Holt’s Picnic Area.

This is an excellent, day-use site for picnicking and fishing. Tables, fire grates and toilet facilities are located in an attractive setting along the shore of Badin Lake.

Tuckertown Lake is located just below High Rock Lake. It is a 2,500 acre lake with 75 miles of shoreline. Most of the shoreline remains undeveloped. Although Tuckertown Lake is open to all types of boating, most boat traffic is fishing boats. There are currently no campgrounds or private commercial businesses at Tuckertown Lake. You may access the lake from the Bringle Ferry Boat Access (just below High Rock Dam), Flat Creek Boat Access (in Rowan County), and the Tuckertown Boat Ramp (off of NC-8/49 in Stanly County).

The Lakemont Access area offers 51 boat trailer spaces and 2 universal access spaces.

Badin Lake Group Camp offers three campsites for up to 50 people each, organized around a single loop. Each site has tables, grills and tent pads. The facility is equipped with flush toilets, vault toilets, showers and drinking water. The facility does not offer electrical hookups or a dump station.

Kings Mountain Point day-use area is a perfect place for group outings. Situated on Kings Mountain Point – peninsula jutting into Badin Lake – the area boasts four accessible fishing piers, paved parking for 50 cars, and an accessible paved trail that circles 34 picnic sites. Each picnic site has a grill and table. There is a picnic pavilion on the top of the hill. There are flush toilets near the picnic pavilion and there are 3 other sets of vault toilets at this day use area. The picnic pavilion can be reserved for parties and picnics.

Anchoring Uwharrie National Forest, Badin Lake’s 5,400 acres begs you to explore its 115 miles of tree-lined shores. Maximum depth is 190 feet and the average water temperature is 84.4°F in summer and 50.6°F in winter. No bridges or ferries cross Badin Lake.

Arrowhead Campground lies in the Badin Lake Recreation Area, a hub for outdoor activities in central North Carolina’s Uwharrie National Forest. The variety of sites in the campground offer a comfortable stay for both RV and tent campers. The facility is open year-round and provides easy access to hiking, off-road vehicle riding, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing and boating.
