High Rock Lake is the northernmost of the Uwharrie Lakes and the second largest lake in North Carolina. The lake serves as a boundary between Davidson and Rowan counties and is a reservoir for hydroelectric power generation. The lake provides excellent boating and fishing opportunities for bass, crappie, striper, bream, catfish and bait. There are several public accesses around the lake, including the Buddle Creek Boating Access. This access offers a boat access and designated swim area, featuring a sandy beach with floating booms and porta-a-jons on site.

The farm was named and known for The Eureka Mill, founded in 1838. The mill stood on the farm until 2003 and is registered on the National Register of Historic Places.
