By opening the doors to Childress Vineyards in 2004, NASCAR team owner Richard Childress fulfilled a longtime dream that grew from the days when he first began racing in California and visited wineries with friends. What began as camaraderie and good times soon became an engaging passion for world-class wines and then the vision to build a world-class winery.

Boone’s Cave Park is located in western Davidson County. The park is 100 acres and offers hiking trails through a secluded rolling forest of mixed hardwoods reminiscent of the North Carolina Mountains. Forty-six acres of the park are designated as a Natural Heritage Site and are host to a number of wildflowers normally only found in the Appalachian Mountains. The park also offers a paddle access to the Yadkin River.

Finch Park offers a spectacular variety of features and activities. Three picnic areas available by reservation. All picnic shelters are handicapped accessible. Additional picnic tables are available throughout the park. The Finch Park MTB trail is a winding trail that follows a section of Abbott’s Creek. The trail includes a .5 mile beginner loop that can be ridden independently, or as a part of a larger 1.5 mile intermediate loop.

High Rock Lake is the northernmost of the Uwharrie Lakes and the second largest lake in North Carolina. The lake serves as a boundary between Davidson and Rowan counties and is a reservoir for hydroelectric power generation. The lake provides excellent boating and fishing opportunities for bass, crappie, striper, bream, catfish and bait. There are several public accesses around the lake, including the Southmont Boad Access. This spot offers an access for boaters and paddlers.

A gated farm with locked tack storage, 70 acres of land, with additional 70 acres for trail riding. They have a 135×200 ft. arena with jumps & round pen for training. The barn has roomy, open air stalls, a wash pit with hot and cold water and restroom facilities. Farm owners live on property.

Weathervane Winery is an outstanding local winery serving the Winston-Salem, Charlotte and Greensboro, NC areas. They started off as a simple winery and have since grown to include a calendar of events, wine tastings, and an events center.
