Paddle access to the Haw River. There is a dam here at the Altamahaw Paddle Access that paddlers must avoid.

The park offers four hiking trail loops, an observation deck situated in the midst of a wildflower meadow, and paddle access to the Haw River Paddle Trail.

The Jimmy Powell Tennis Center consists of 12 hard courts separated into bays of three courts each. The court bays are captured by a 10-foot high, vinyl-coated fence fitted with nine-foot polypropylene wind screens. Evening tennis is made possible with low-level lighting. Each court is equipped with a state-of-the-art intercom system.Located at the center of the tennis complex is a two-story pavilion that houses a storage area, a concession stand and a viewing deck. From the viewing deck, competition can be observed in any direction, as well as the beautifully landscaped area between the courts. Shrubs and flowerbeds complement the permanent bleachers next to the two stadium courts, while honey locust trees help to shade the grassy seating area.

Bring your little ones to enjoy the largest playground in the area. The fenced-in playground provides safe play for children 2-12 years old under adult supervision. Our seventy-two-component playground set, of which sixty-seven components are special-needs accessible, and is open to the public. Approximately one mile of walking and jogging trails meander through the wooded area. Learn as you stroll—there are nearly 60 trees identified along the path.
