The Bryan Park complex includes 36 holes of championship golf, a golf practice and learning facility, pro shop, grill and the 22,000 square foot Bryan Enrichment Center, available for meetings, weddings and special events.

The lake is 1,542 acres and is adjacent to the Bryan Park Complex and Golf Course off Highway 29 North near Greensboro. A large boat ramp is available for private boat launching, with another launch ramp for small sailboats. Kayaks and rowboats are available to rent. Sailboats can be rented with previous sailing experience. Popular fish include largemouth bass, hybrid bass, striped bass, catfish, and crappie. The lake has a fishing pier, parking and restrooms that can be reasonably accessed by someone using a mobility device. No swimming or wading is allowed at Lake Townsend or any of the Greensboro City Lakes.

Blue Heron offers an extension of the Reedy Fork trail via N. Church Street. The Piedmont Fat Tire Society began work on constructing Blue Heron spring 2009. The trail skirts along the shore line of beautiful Lake Townsend. There is plenty of variety too as the trail leads you out of the woods for multiple power line crossings. A few sections have deep gullies and dips that are fun to blast through and out of on your bike. Blue Heron flows great and is relatively easy for any rider or hiker to tackle.

New 18-hole golf course. One of NC’s newest 18-hole golf courses with event facilities where they host special events and tournaments.

Located in the northern Piedmont Triad region, picturesque terrain makes Haw River State Park the perfect place to connect with nature. Housed within this natural setting is The Summit Environmental Education and Conference Center, N.C. State Park’s first residential environmental education center. Along with environmental education programming, The Summit Center offers conference center facilities for groups ranging in size from 10 to 180.

The Osprey Trail presents an easy-to-moderate 2.7-mile hike along the south banks of Lake Townsend. Ospreys have been nesting along this trail for years and, if you watch carefully, you may spot one overhead, hovering above the lake, looking for fish. Sponsored by Guilford Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) Friends, the Osprey Trail is part of the NC Mountains-to-Sea Trail.

The Kingfisher Trail (3.2 miles) offers an extension of the Blue Heron trail via Yanceyville Street. Kingfisher Trail is designed for the enjoyment of mountain biking enthusiasts and hikers. Cyclists are asked to yield trail right-of-way to hikers. Please avoid riding after rainfall when the trails are muddy.
