Maple Chase Golf and Country Club has a 60-year history in Winston-Salem. In the 1950s, a group of local golfers decided to explore opening a new country club and chose a 300-acre tract of land from the “Cox Farm” off Germanton Road. Half of the land was subdivided and sold to finance the construction of the golf course. 150 acres was dedicated to the newly formed Pine Brook Country Club. The existing Cox home on the property was renovated for a clubhouse. Ellis Maples became the first Golf Professional for the club. In 2000, the members replaced the original clubhouse with a new clubhouse, pool and pool house. In 2013, the club was purchased by Lynn Murphy and Lynette Matthews-Murphy and was renamed Maple Chase Golf and Country Club.
