High Rock Lake is the northernmost of the Uwharrie Lakes and the second largest lake in North Carolina. The lake serves as a boundary between Davidson and Rowan counties and is a reservoir for hydroelectric power generation. The lake provides excellent boating and fishing opportunities for bass, crappie, striper, bream, catfish and bait. There are several public accesses around the lake, including Pebble Beach, also known as Flat Swamp. It is a combined boat access and swimming area. The swim area has a sandy beach, and is protected by a floating boom that separates the swim area from the boat access area.
